Stretch marks can give vital parts of your body an ugly appearance. The fact that a billion-dollar industry exists to remove stretch marks tells enough about the fact that people don’t want them, and therefore, I take this as given. There is more than one ways to approach the problem of stretch mark reduction. The first step in curing the problem is to understand it correctly and then determine alternatives. Based on your priorities, you can then choose the best method.
Understanding The Problem
The very first thing that you need to know about stretch marks is the fact that you are not alone. A large number of women get stretch marks either because they are growing too fast, gaining or losing weight too fast, or because of pregnancy. A large number of men get it because of weight training. But, stretch marks don’t need to be a part of your life. The root cause of the problem is that the skin has lost its elasticity due to the loss of elastin and collagen. This happens when tissue development grows or reduces at a rapid speed. To fade stretch marks, you therefore have to stimulate the growth of these two, which in turn depends on the blood supply and the level of antioxidants that your skin possesses.
Understanding The Alternatives
• Dietary Modifications: Stretch marks existed before there were medicines as we know them now. And, people at that time too got rid of these problems and had beautiful bodies. This can be mainly attributed to dietary modifications. If you follow a good diet, you can stimulate your blood flow and production of these hormones, and therefore, it is a viable cure for stretch marks. But, there two problems here. Firstly, the time needed is too long, and secondly, this is difficult to implement in practice because of our busy and unhealthy lifestyles.
• Non Surgical Products: These are a group of application-based products, like creams or lotions, which help in stretch mark reduction. They are noninvasive and natural. They provide the skin with same nutrients and stimulate the same natural process of healing. However, as they are administered externally, they can do so quickly and more effectively for the affected area. Thus, they take less time and are cheap and effective. There is a small problem in that there are too many of them out there, and getting to the right one takes tremendous due diligence.
• Surgery: Surgical procedures can lead to overnight stretch mark reduction for obvious reasons. But, they are invasive and are very expensive. People don’t want to undergo surgery when the task can be accomplished by natural means in 4 to 6 weeks. On the positive side, the effects are a given. Surgery will rid you off your stretch marks certainly, but it may not be effective in keeping them away.
